But if we are in earnest about our faith, we have to say no to selfishness and self-indulgence and yes to what we know is right. We have to make the effort to act on what we know. If we are going to be productive Christians there is no life of ease, but many battles with self to do what is right.
There are many of us that are keen readers and we attend churches where we hear sermons faithful to God’s word. We then have to ask ourselves if the way we behave is commensurate with what we know. I’ll start the honesty ball rolling: I know a great deal, but sadly I am too often a lazy Christian. Making every effort is often too much effort and I take the easy way out. The when I feel guilty, I get super busy, But busy isn’t necessarily productive.I thank God that he is faithful when I am not. He shakes me up from time to time to get me back onto the right path, to find the balance and to keep on keeping on in his strength and not my own.
