SCRIPTURE STACK – MEMORY VERSE CARDS

We are very excited to announce our first Oikos original game. Scripture Stack is a deck of 54 cards that contain short popular scriptures in four different categories, being Love, Joy, Peace, Trust.

NOTE: Scripture Stack version 2 was upgraded in September 2020. The new upgraded version does not have the box template to make your own card box. The deck of cards is now packed in a ready made box.

These cards can be used for a range of games and uses, such as Scripture Memorisation and Reference, Snap, Rummy, Memory, and so many more.

We have heard testimonies from parents who use Scripture Stack to have, ‘scriptures’ on hand, to give to people as they feel led. So Scripture Stack has more uses than the variety of games that can be played with this stack of 60 cards.

Some Game Ideas:

Here are some ideas for games you can play with your Scripture Stack.

1. Scripture Memorisation

You and your family will have some useful short scriptures to memorise.

They are also very useful to have as a quick scripture for encouragement or support when you need a scripture for a specific theme.

2. Snap

Snap is suitable for from two to about six players. Use all 60 cards in your pack. Any pack consisting of a reasonable number of sets of identical or matching cards is suitable. It is for you to decide what the matching card should be i.e. another Peace or green card, so you are looking for matching colour cards (easy for younger players), or matching numbers for older children, or even matching books in the Bible for the more advanced players.

• Deal out the entire deck to the players.
• Each player puts their deck face-down in front of them.
• On the count of 3, all players start flipping their cards over one by one.
• If a player spots a card that matches their card on top of another stack, they shout Snap! and win the cards in that stack.
• During the game, if a player runs out of cards in their face-down pile, the cards in the face-up pile are turned down and the player continues to play.
• The first player to collect all the cards wins.

3. Memory

Memory has long been a favourite game for all generations. It is easy to play, in fact, it is so simple that very young children can play with ease.
It requires observation, concentration and a good memory to win.
Although the game is designed so two players play against each other, it can also be played by a single player.
The game is also known as Concentration.

• Mix up the cards.
• Lay them in rows, face down.
• Turn over any two cards.
• If the two cards match, keep them.
• If they don’t match, turn them back over.
• Remember what was on each card and where it was placed.
• Watch and remember during the other player’s turn.
• The aim is to match a pair of cards by remembering where the like cards are.
• The game is over when all the cards have been matched.
