Description
STEVE DEMME
The manipulative blocks are used in all of the MathUSee levels from Primer to Algebra 1. This is 133-piece manipulative block set of stacking blocks used to teach all aspects of arithmetic. The same blocks are used in conjunction with the Inserts to illustrate key algebra and decimal concepts. The box set consists of 20 ones and tens, 13 fives, and 10 each of twos, threes, fours, sixes, sevens, eights, nines, and hundreds blocks, plus the Decimal Street/Block Clock poster. The durable cardboard storage box doubles as a carrying case while keeping blocks tidy and simplifying clean up.
Are they really necessary?
There seems to be no question, that if youre going to teach math (at least at the elementary level), you need manipulatives. Numerous studies have been conducted by educational researchers since the 1960s, and the evidence is overwhelming that using math manipulatives meaningfully with students of all ability levels in all grades greatly improves understanding and retention of math concepts.
This is a ONCE OFF purchase.
One box set can be used throughout all levels of Math-U-See. A second box set is only required if you choose for each student to have their own personal manipulatives.
PLEASE NOTE: The classic original manipulative block set had 88 pieces but the new revised and upgraded block set has 133 pieces. This is in an attempt to offer one set for the whole family and so avoiding the possible need for purchase of two of the classic sets per family. The classic 88 piece block set is now discontinued.
