Description
MARTYN LLOYD-JONES
This is the second in a series of volumes which bring together much of Dr Lloyd-Jones‘ evangelistic preaching from the Acts of the Apostles. It covers texts from chapters 4 and 5 in the book which, he claimed, presented ‘authentic Christianity and nothing else.’
The first volume in the series was enthusiastically received. The following comment is representative:
The aim of the book is to bring us back to the basics of the Christian faith. The style is crystal clear. The content is thoroughly evangelistic. The glory of the gospel shines on every page. I thoroughly commend it; truly Dr Lloyd-Jones at his best – ‘He though dead yet speaketh’. We eagerly await the other volumes.
The present volume takes up the defence of Peter and John before the council in Acts 4, the prayer of the church in the same chapter, the view of the life of the church seen at the end of the chapter, and the deceit of Ananias and Sapphira in chapter 5, powerfully applying the lessons of these passages to the mind, heart, and conscience of the reader.
