With the “Deuteronomy” edition we continue the publication of a Biblica Hebraica edition that has been fundamentally revised the already published books of Megilloth, Ezra-Nehemiah and Proverbs.The textual basis in both the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (BHS) and is the oldest completely preserved script of the Hebrew Bible, EBP I B 19a code from the National Library of Russian in St. Petersburg. This code is also known as “Codex Leningradensis”. What is different now is that this script is reproduced “diplomatically“ in the new edition, that is, all its characteristics and, most of all, the ancient marginal notes of the small and large Masorah (Masorah parva and Masorah magna) are displayed in this print as accurately as possible. This editions’ critical apparatus differs from former editions in so far as it has been completely restructured and the displayed material has increased significantly. Among others, there is a complete display of the variants from the Qumran texts.

For the first time, this edition contains an extensive commentary section as well which offers an introduction to each single book with a characterization of the relevant textual witnesses and an explanation of how these textual witnesses are used – there is also a translation of the large Masorah, there are explanations as to the small Masorah and there are numerous annotations as to specific critical textual questions and problems – for further study.
