TIRZAH JONES
Do you ever find yourself planning your youth work and struggling to think of games? Or have you got tired of using the same old games, and do you long for some fresh ideas? It’s easy to find resources with ideas for crafts, activities and talks, but what about those times when all you want are ideas for games?
Tirzah L Jones has been involved with youth work all her life and here she has collected together 101 games that are suitable for groups of all ages and situations. The organization of the games (into categories and according to age range) means that this resource is easy to use and you can find just the right game for your group. Useful tips are included to help you add variety to the games, as well as to help them fit in with a particular Bible theme you may be running.
Tirzah L Jones was raised in Wem, Shropshire, where her father was the Minister at Wem Baptist Church. It was in Wem she was converted at a young age and first began teaching in Sunday School and the youth groups. Tirzah did a BAhons in Theological Studies at the Evangelical Theological College of Wales, Bryntirion, after which she spent time in South Wales working in various youth groups. During this time Tirzah also gained a CELTA qualification. In 2007 Tirzah became the full time youth worker at Kesgrave Baptist Church, Ipswich. Tirzah is also a Director of Go Teach, representing the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches.
Youth workers are very often not all-rounders! This book is a brilliant resource for someone like me – I always get stuck when it comes to planning games. For variety, simplicity and the fun factor this book is what you need.
—Sheila Stephen, Lecturer in Youth & Children’s Ministry at Wales Evangelical School of Theology
We all know of games for children and young people as we played them when we were their age and enjoyed most, if not all, of them—whether at home, school, clubs or camps. So why is it that, if you are like me, when we have to plan an event with games in, we can’t think of anything suitable?
This little book is worth its weight in gold as it provides a ready collection of games we know, or even don’t know, for us to dip into and use freely. Tirzah has compiled this useful resource for all who work with children and young people. For this, I am most grateful to her, and so will many others be! It is a resource that all who work with children and young people will find invaluable and great fun for the groups they work with.
—Gareth James, minister in Barton-upon-Humber, UK, and former youth pastor
